Back pain remedies during pregnancy is very important for a lot of women. There are some things that you can start doing today to improve your comfort. In what follows, I will give you some ideas of things to consider. In another post, I touch upon ways to reduce lower back pain during pregnancy, therefore I recommend that you read that post as it has some important ideas for improving your comfort today.
However, there are a few other things that I want to elaborate on. As I previously mentioned in the other post, back pain occurs due to hormones which make the joints of your pelvis more mobile, as well as the increased weight of your belly that affects your center of gravity and posture.
One thing that I do not mention though is that your back pain can also be caused by the increased size of your breasts during pregnancy.
Most women increase by one to two cup sizes while pregnant! This is your body’s way of getting ready for breastfeeding. The reason I bring this up is because this can also cause UPPER back pain. So be sure to pay close attention to your shoulders and ensure that your shoulders are not rounding in due to your poor posture habits.
That is why stretching your pectoral muscles is so important too! The other thing I wanted to mention that many women have used as back pain remedies during pregnancy is a maternity body pillow. I personally used it, because I love them and they are really helpful, my cousin (who is an obstetrician) also did. See my top picks in this article.
My cousin also used a maternity support belt. Had I known about this, I would have used one, because the weight of my belly was uncomfortable. These maternity support belts help support your abdomen and your back so that they provide your back with some relief as well.
The particular belt above has even provided some active pregnant women, who jog, with fantastic support of their backs and bellies. The other option is to wear something like a – Bellybra . This item not only provides support to your back and abdomen, it also provides extra support to your growing breasts too.
It looks like a tank top, and is made of stretchy material. The supportive pregnancy pillow, maternity belt or the Bellybra are some great products used as back pain remedies during pregnancy that you can use as you go about your day. Just remember that because we spend about 8 hours/day in bed, that it is really important to have a supportive pregnancy body pillow that supports your body and back in good alignment as you sleep.
